Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
1. Who we are
MMA High Performance is a coaching and athlete-monitoring app run by MMA High Performance Limited, a New Zealand company (company number 9417825, NZBN 9429053560933), based in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Our privacy officer is Bill Smart (Director). For anything about your personal information, contact bill.smart@mmahighperformance.com.
This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, and we treat your health and training information with the extra care that the Health Information Privacy Code expects.
2. What we collect
You (or your coach on your behalf) give us:
- Account and profile: your name, email address, date of birth, sex, sport, competition level, weight class, gym or team, and time zone.
- Daily wellness check-ins: sleep, soreness, energy, mood, stress, readiness answers, resting heart rate, HRV and any notes you add.
- Training: your planned and completed sessions, sets, loads, effort ratings, durations, session notes, and the reasons you give when a session changes or is missed.
- Conditioning sessions: timings and results; if you use a heart-rate strap, power machine (for example a rower or bike) or muscle-oxygen sensor over Bluetooth, the heart rate, heart-rate variability, power, cadence and muscle-oxygen readings during the session, plus the sensor's model and serial number.
- Injuries and health: injuries, illness and concussion reports you enter, where on the body, how they affect training, any training restrictions, and their review dates.
- Body weight: weigh-ins and target weights.
- Fight and preparation dates: your upcoming fights and training phases.
- Videos and audio: form-check videos you record (including their sound), and voice notes your coach records about them.
- Documents: files you or your team upload (for example scans or reports).
- Team information: the names, roles and email addresses of staff you add to your team (for example a physiotherapist).
If you choose to connect a wearable — WHOOP, Oura, Polar, Garmin or Samsung — we receive the data you allow during connection, such as sleep, heart rate, HRV, recovery or readiness scores, skin temperature, blood oxygen and workout heart rate.
Location: for distance-based runs, the app can use your phone's location during the run to measure distance. We store only the distance, not your route.
Technical information: basic error reports (what went wrong, on which screen, and your device/browser type) so we can fix problems. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
3. Why we use it
- To run your coaching: plan your training, show your progress, and help your coach adjust your program.
- To keep you safe: track injuries, concussion and recovery so training fits how you are.
- To fill your check-ins automatically from connected devices, so you type less.
- To send account emails (invites, password resets) and to alert your coach about things that need attention (for example a new injury, illness, a low recovery reading, or missed check-ins).
- To fix problems and keep the app secure.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.
4. Who can see your information
- You.
- Your coach (MMA High Performance), who runs the service and is the app administrator.
- Staff you add to your team (for example a physiotherapist or strength coach). They can see your training, wellness and injury information so they can support you. You can remove them at any time.
- Your gym's coaches, if you belong to a gym that uses the app.
Other athletes cannot see your information.
5. Service providers we use
These companies process information for us, only to provide the service:
| Provider | What for | Where |
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and file storage | Singapore |
| Vercel | Hosting the app | Global |
| Resend | Sending account emails and coach alerts (alerts can include your name and the reason, such as an injury or a low recovery reading) | United States / Japan |
| Cloudflare | Our domain and DNS | Global |
| Google Fonts | Displaying the app's text font | Global |
| YouTube / Vimeo | Showing exercise demonstration videos | Global |
| WHOOP, Oura, Polar, Garmin, Samsung | Only if you connect that device — to receive your device data | Their own locations |
Payments for coaching are handled outside the app (Stripe and Xero), not through the app.
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. We use reputable providers with security protections comparable to New Zealand's Privacy Act.
6. How we protect it
- Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored encrypted.
- Database rules make sure each person can only see what they are allowed to see.
- Login keys for your wearables are only readable by our servers — not by coaches, staff or other users.
- Only you, or the app administrator, can delete your account.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, or ask us to, we remove your personal details within 30 days (see section 9).
8. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can see and edit most of your information in the app, or ask us for a copy or a correction.
- Disconnect a device at any time in Settings. We then stop collecting from it.
- Withdraw from the service by deleting your account (section 9).
- Complaints: contact us first. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz). Athletes in Australia can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app: Settings → Account → Delete my account. When you do:
- you are signed out and can no longer sign in;
- your name, email, date of birth, notes, injury descriptions, videos, documents and device connections are removed;
- your future planned sessions are cancelled;
- your past training numbers (for example loads and times) may be kept without anything that identifies you, so team-level statistics stay accurate.
This is completed within 30 days. You can also ask us to do it by emailing the address in section 1.
10. Young athletes
The app is intended for athletes aged 16 and over. Athletes under 18 should use it with a parent or guardian's agreement.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email. The date at the top shows the latest version.
